Lambretta Scooter code 172. Size 840mm x 595mm - 33 x 23½ (A1)
The Lambretta was originally designed by Ferdinando Innocenti who had a vision of cheap, reliable transport that afforded better weather protection than a motorcycle. Production of his scooters began in 1947 and the first was known as Model A which was a tubular framework Heath Robinson affair! However, 120 MPG was achieved which ensured its success as petrol was in short supply. In 1949, Model B was produced followed by Model C etc. The Innocenti Corporation continued to improve its product. In 1952 Model 125 LD appeared with a top speed of 47 mph. In 1954, Innocenti introduced a 150-cc engine followed in 1957/58 with its Li 125/150 models. Our poster is an exact recreation of the original and features a PAN AM pilot astride an LI 125/150 model circa 1959.
